However, Microsoft has highlighted a number of new features that are already a part of Windows Phone 8 that will be making an appearance on Windows Phone 7.8.

We already knew the update would be following the styling of Windows Phone 8 to offer a Start screen that spans the full width of the display. It’s also now been confirmed users will be able to resize Live Tiles. You’ll also be able to choose from 20 accent colours, as we already can with Windows Phone 8.

There are also new Lock screen features that Nokia Lumia 900, Nokia Lumia 800, Nokia Lumia 710 and Nokia Lumia 610 users can look forward to, such as choosing different wallpapers, such as Bing ‘picture of the day’ and improved password security.

The blog post also mentions that Windows Phone 7.8 will be faster and more responsive, effectively giving your Nokia Lumia 900, Nokia Lumia 800, Nokia Lumia 710 and Nokia Lumia 610 a new lease of life.

While we were hoping to see the Windows Phone 7.8 update appear in 2012, it seems the wait is almost over and should bring with it a host of enhanced features.
