For a seventh consecutive month, the Samsung Galaxy S III is the most popular smartphone in the United Kingdom. The data compiled by uSwitch is based on live searches, pre-orders, as well as postpaid sales.

Curiously, Apple’s current smartphone flagship is not even second. The iPhone 5 is outperformed by its predecessor, whose lower price and improved contract offers helped it remain appealing. The Samsung Galaxy S II completes the quartet at the top.

The rest of the top ten smartphones is entirely an Android party. It includes the Google Nexus 4, who entered the rankings a solid fifth. The second half of the top ten includes the Samsung Galaxy Ace,Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Sony Xperia U, HTC One X, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2.

With the Christmas shopping season picking up steam, it will be curious to see whether or not the Galaxy S III will retain its bestselling crown. Apple’s iPhone 5 is said to be quickly gaining ground due to price drops, so it will be an interesting race to watch in a lucrative market.

Just as promised, the famous singer and musician Will.i.am (Black Eyed Peas) introduced his intriguing 14MP camera accessories for the Apple iPhone 5 at a special event in London.

The accessories are part of the i.am+ foto.sosho line-up and comprise of the C.4, V.4 for the iPhone 4 and 4S V.5 and L.5, naturally, for the iPhone 5. All of them come with interchangeable lenses and a dedicated app.

Here they are posing for a family photo.

The V5 and L5 accessories feature a 14-megapixel sensor, and all four have a 5x zoom lens. According to Will.i.am, the flash unit on the foto.sosho line-up is also far superior than the one Apple has provided with the iPhone 4, 4S and 5.

Starting off with the foto.sosho C.4, which is the entry-level model. It includes three interchangeable lenses – macro, fish-eye and clear glass and also features a handy grip for better handling.

The foto.sosho V.4 is the enhanced version of the C.4 and boasts a timeless vintage design. It packs a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, which is backlit. Utilizing Bluetooth to pair with the phone, the V.4 is compatible with either the iPhone 4 and 4S.

The i.am+ foto.sosho V.5 and L.5 carry the same features of the iPhone 4 and 4S foto.sosho accessories listed above, but are specifically designed to fit the slightly taller iPhone 5.

At the event, Will.i.am shared his insights and hopes that this product would serve as an inspiration to a new generation of entrepreneurs.

As we told you couple of days ago, the fancy accessories will come with a custom app allowing you to apply Instagram-like effects. Afterwards, you can upload them to your special http://www.i.am/YourName account and share them with your friends. Pretty neat, right?

For now, only the pricing of the i.am+ foto.sosho C.4 and V.4 has been announced and it’s quite pricey at £199 and £299, respectively. The rest of the fancy accessories for the iPhone 5 will get their price tags at a later date and for a while will only be available at London’s Selfridges department store.

Today Apple announced the China launch details for its latest iOS-based gadgets – the iPhone 5, the iPad mini and the 4th generation iPad. The iPad 2 will be also available for purchase.

The Wi-Fi versions of the three slates hit the shelves on December 7, while the iPhone 5 sales kick off a week later – on December 16. There is no info on the availability of cellular iPad models.

All devices will cost the same as their US siblings. They will be sold via the Apple Online Store, the Authorized Retailers and Apple’s Retail Stores. The latter will start taking reservations for pickups a day earlier before the launch.

With China being the biggest market in the world and the iPhone 5, we expect smashing sales and record-breaking numbers in Apple’s Q4 financial results.

The US market was one of the first to get the iPhone 5 on launch day. However, the only devices available until now were locked to carriers and available on contract.

Well, if you stay in the US, you don’t have to look at other countries to get your unlocked iPhone 5 anymore. These devices have just hit both the online as well as the Apple brick and mortar stores in the US. The prices for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB iPhone 5 models is $649, $749 and $849 respectively, same as the iPhone 4S before.

These devices will only work on GSM networks, such as AT&T and T-Mobile in the US and will require a nano-SIM. If you order it now the phone will be shipped in one week. You can only order two units per person.

NetAplications has made a chart comparing browser hits by platform covering the last two years shows that Android has caught on with the iPhone but that the iPad is still dominating the mobile traffic.

Also, according to IBM, iOS devices accounted for 18.5% of all online transactions this Black Friday, compared to just 5.5% for Android.

The analyzed data also revealed some interesting results about the Android version distribution in the past two years. Android 2.3 Gingerbread is still dominating, ICS is catching up, while older versions of the OS are noticeably fading away.

Back in August we had heard that Facebook was urging its employees, who mostly use iPhones that the company gave them, to switch to Android. The reason behind this was they knew that the Android version of their app sucks and that they wanted their employees to dogfood their app and report back on what’s wrong with it.

Apparently, Facebook hasn’t given up on that initiative and is continuing to urge its employees to switch to Android, as can be seen by these new posters found on Facebook’s Menlo Park campus.

Facebook employees get to try the latest and greatest versions of the apps before everyone else. Their version also has a feature called ‘Rage Shake’, where the user just shakes their phone when they come across an issue and it gets reported automatically. However, with most of the employees at Facebook using iPhones, they weren’t getting enough data on the Android app to know what’s wrong with it, so this initiative for asking the employees to switch is a step to correct that problem.

Back at the Apple iPhone 5 announcement event, Phil Schiller claimed that the new iOS flagship has the world’s most advanced display yet. It appears, however, that this might not be entirely true, as one Nokia fan is keen to point out. He did a spec-by-spec comparison of the iPhone 5 and the Lumia 920 and the latest Apple smartphone didn’t really manage to impress there.

The PureMotion HD+ screen on the Nokia Lumia 920 packs some impressive technology and it’s hard to argue with the facts listed in the following slides.

This is not the first case of the Apple’s iPhone 5 announcement event writing checks that the smartphone cannot cash, either. You might remember the slimmest smartphone claim, which also turned out to be inaccurate.

Singer and musician Will.i.am (Black Eyed Peas) is getting ready to release its own line of iPhone accessories. But these are not your run-of-the-mill accessories, we’re talking serious stuff. His lineup will be called i.am+ and the first accessory will be shell, which adds a real 14MP camera to the smartphone.

“We have our own sensor and a better flash. You dock you phone into our device and it turns you smartphone into a genius-phone. We take over the camera.” – says Will.i.am. From what it looks, the i.am.+ shell also has its own optics and even a dedicated shutter button.

The new accessory will be featured in the new video for his song Scream and Shout, which will launch next week.

The singer has also purchased the domain http://www.i.am. Everyone who buys one of the i.am+ accessories will get an online profile, which would look something like http://www.i.am/Will.

The accessories will launch officially at an event in London on November 28. Pricing will be announced there. The products will be sold exclusively by Selfridges starting this December.

Back in 2011 Intel hired Will.i.am as a “Director of creative innovation”, which caused much controversy.
