Sony announced the Xperia E and Xperia E dual entry-level Androids last week but said nothing about their price. It turns out, though, that the press releases that Sony Mobile Germany sent out sheds some light on it.

The single-SIM Xperia E will cost €160, while the dual-SIM version is €10 more. This is around the same price as the Xperia miro right now (Amazon.de, single-SIM only) or a dual-SIM Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos(Amazon.de), both of which have specs comparable to the Xperia E. The current dual-SIM Xperia, the tipo dual, has lower specs and price (Amazon.de)

The Sony Xperia E and E Duos will be coming out in the first quarter of next year. They pack a single-core Cortex-A5, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a 3.5″ HVGA screen and a 3MP camera with FWVGA video capture.

Leaked a while ago, the Sony Xperia E and Sony Xperia E dual just got their official announcement.

The Sony Xperia E duo consists of two affordable smartphones with a 3.5-inch displays of HVGA resolution and packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A chipset with a 1GHz CPU.

It may not sound like a big deal, but it’s enough for the Xperia E to run Android 4.1 out of the box. The dual-SIM-packing Xperia E dual, however, will launch with Android 4.0 ICS with an upgrade to Jelly Bean coming at a later time.

At the back, both Sony Xperia E versions feature a 3.2MP camera, but there are no front-facing snappers to be seen. There’s 4GB of internal phone storage, with 2.2GB of those being user-available. Don’t fret, though, as there’s a microSD card slot at your disposal.

The battery has a capacity of 1530mAh and Sony says it’ll be good for up to 6 hours of that sweet HD Voice-enhanced talk time and up to 530 hours of Standby on 3G. Music and video playback are rated at 30 and 8 hours respectively, which sounds more than alright, considering it’s been given the xLOUD Walkman treatment.

Sony Xperia E will be available in black, white and pink, while the Xperia E Dual will be sold in black and gold only. Both the Xperia E and Xperia E Dual will launch early next year, but pricing is still unknown.

Sony has used its official Twitter account about to shed some light on the upcoming Jelly Bean updates for its smartphone lineup. The company revealed that it will be announcing the detailed schedule in mid-December.

@UsmanSyedMahmud Hey, thanks for stopping by – we’ll be back with more detailed timings and info on this by mid-December.Wed Nov 21 14:48:27 via webSony Xperia News

Sony already announced which phones will be updated to Jelly Bean – the Xperia T, TX, V, S, acro S, ion, P, go and J. All of these were released within 2012. There will be no Jelly Bean treatment for the 2011 phones.

We also already know that the Xperia T, TX and V will get the update in mid-Q1 2013, which is February around the time the MWC kicks off.

This means Sony will give us release dates (or weeks) for the rest of the Xperia 2012 gang in mid-December. It’s also then that we’ll learn the fate of the Xperia sola, U, miro, go, tipo and the neo L.
